This report was created in preparation for the development of an Energy Strategy within the municipality. The aim is to provide a status report on the use of energy in Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, which includes an assessment of the type of data available relating to energy supply and demand by energy carrier and by energy user. This report provides the ‘energy picture’ for the Cape Town metropolitan area. It gives the background and direction for the development of the City’s Energy Strategy, which is a component of the City’s Integrated Metropolitan Environmental Policy (IMEP).
