Pilot TDM Projects

Travel Demand Management (TDM) is a general term for strategies that result in more efficient use of transportation resources. The objective of TDM in the City of Cape Town is to promote a diversity of sustainable travel modes and practices that will influence the choices made by commuters in order to reduce the overall number of trips; minimise travel time and optimise travel costs - especially during peak times. The City of Cape Town's Integrated Transport Plan has identified (TDM) as a key initiative in moving towards a more sustainable transport system. Accordingly, as part of the Tran:SIT Programme two TDM projects were identified to be implemented as pilot projects. The TDM projects being implemented are;
